Understanding Heat Treatment
Heat-Treatment is done as per IPPC ISPM-15 regulations and is a process whereby wood used in pallets and other packaging materials is heat-treated to 56°C for a minimum of 30 minutes. IPPC stands for “International Plant Protection Convention” and ISPM for “International Standards For Phytosanitary Measures” – which essentially means to avoid and eliminate the threat and spread of pests such as wood borers and microorganisms that can compromise the integrity and safety of the goods during transportation.
